Man booked for copying, selling duplicate DVDs, MP3s

The Division Number Police on Wednesday arrested and booked a Malwa Factory Road resident under the Copyright Act in connection with duplicating and selling DVDs and MP3s 6 here.

Police also claimed to have recovered 350 MP3s and 1,400 duplicate DVDs from the procession of the accused, Rajiv Kumar, who was later released on bail.

The case was registered following the complaint of Pankaj Bhutani, field officer for Punjab and Harayana with VHC copyright, Kapoor Productions. Pankaj told police on Tuesday evening that the accused was allegedly duplicating DVDs and MP3s at Sain Electronics, Oswal Number 2, Factory Road.

Rajiv, who was allegedly in the business of producing and selling pirated CDs for a long time was booked by the Division Number 6 police under Section 51, 520-A, 63, 68 of the Copyright Act, 1957.
