Man booked for sending threatening messages to Cong woman leader

The City Police have booked an unidentified person on charge of sending threatening messages and demanding Rs 10 lakh from Shaveta Bhardwaj, district Mahila Congress organiser who is a resident of Kartar Nagar, Chheharta.

The City Police have booked an unidentified person on charge of sending threatening messages and demanding Rs 10 lakh from Shaveta Bhardwaj, district Mahila Congress organiser who is a resident of Kartar Nagar, Chheharta.

In her police complaint, the woman said that the accused threatened to kill her children in case she failed to pay the money.

The complainant claimed that the accused mentioned the name of a Congress leader from the district. The police were yet to identify and arrest the accused, who was booked under Sections 384, 511 and 506 of the IPC at Chheharta police station on the complaint of Shveta Bhardwaj.

Inspector Sushil Kumar of Chheharta police station, who is investigating the matter, said, "A case has been registered against the unidentified accused and efforts are being made to arrest him."
