Man commits suicide over dispute with wife

Vijaywant Singh (36), a resident of Model House locality in the city, committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance on Tuesday over an alleged dispute with his wife Manjeet Kaur who lives at Chohla Sahib in Tarn Taran district.

Police said the deceased was working as a clerk in a private laboratory at Maqsudan locality and had married Kaur four years ago.

The police said that after some time, Kaur had a fight with Vijaywant and went back to her parental house.

The police said she had also filed for divorce and was demanding substantial alimony after which Singh used to remain in distress and took the extreme step on Tuesday.

His body was handed over the family after postmortem examination and a case was registered on the complaint of deceased’s brother Satbir Singh against deceased’s in-laws.
