Man dies after drinking illicit liquor, companion serious

According to information available, deceased Ranjit Singh and Surinder Masih drank illicit liquor at the village on Saturday afternoon, after which they started vomiting and later became unconscious. They were rushed to Kalanaur hospital but doctors referred Ranjit to Batala hospital in view of his serious condition but he died on the way.
His father Joginder Singh said that his son was working as a tailor and was a habitual drinker.
Kalanaur police rushed to the spot after receiving information and sent the body to the Gurdaspur civil hospital for post-mortem.
A few months ago, 17 residents of Johal Nangal village had died after drinking illicit liquor.
