Man gets 10-year imprisonment for assault

The court of sessions judge on Saturday awarded 10-year imprisonment to one Major Singh and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000. In lieu of a default on the payment of fine, he would have to undergo two years in imprisonment.

The court of sessions judge on Saturday awarded 10-year imprisonment to one Major Singh and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000. In lieu of a default on the payment of fine, he would have to undergo two years in imprisonment.

On the statement of Karnail Singh, a resident of village Bhagrana, the Badali Aala Singh police on February 10, 2012, had registered a case against Major under Sections 307, 324 and 341 of the IPC.

As per Karnail Singh, Major had assaulted his son Gurpreet Singh with a sharp-edged weapon.

Gurpreet was seriously injured and was admitted to PGI, Chandigarh. Karnail had told the police that his son owed some money to Major and the accused assaulted him to recover the money.
