Man gets 10-year jail in drug-peddling case

Additional district and sessions judge Gurjant Singh on Saturday awarded 10-year imprisonment to a man convicted for possessing habit-forming drugs. Dharamkot police had arrested Gurbachan Singh Bagga, a resident of Pandori Araean of the district, on March 6, 2010 after recovery of the banned drug during search of his home.

Additional district and sessions judge Gurjant Singh on Saturday awarded 10-year imprisonment to a man convicted for possessing habit-forming drugs. Dharamkot police had arrested Gurbachan Singh Bagga, a resident of Pandori Araean of the district, on March 6, 2010 after recovery of the banned drug during search of his home. The police had registered a case against Bagga under sections 15, 61 and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act in this connection at Dharamkot police station. The judge also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh, the non-payment of which will extend the prison sentence by a year.
