Kulwinder received a call from Jasmine alias Priti, sister-in-law of her daughter, on Saturday informing him that Paramjit is not well. He rushed to her in-law's house at Chawni Mohalla along with his wife Gurvinder Kaur and was shocked to see her daughter hanging from the ceiling fan. He alleged that Paramjit's husband Harpreet Singh, her father-in-law Amarjit Singh and mother-in-law Basant Kaur have killed her daughter for dowry, following a conspiracy.

In resentment, the kin of the victim vandalised the house of Paramjit's in-laws. Police force from three police stations has been pressed in the job to manage things. Following the complaint made by Kulwinder Singh, the Salem Tabri police station has registered a case of dowry death against Paramjit's husband, father-in-law and mother-in-law.
