The Crime Investigation Agency staff-1 arrested a man and recovered illicit liquor and psychotropic drugs from his possession on Friday.

The accused has been identified as Tony alias Bheem of Gara village in Jalandhar. Following a tip-off, the police arrested Tony from a checkpoint near Giaspura Chowk and recovered 156 bottles of illicit liquor and 1,400 sedative pills from his car. Inspector Rajan Parminder Singh, who is in-charge of CIA, said the police have been investigating to know from where the accused use to get the contraband.

A case under Section 61/1/14 of the Excise Act and Section 22/61/85 of the NDPS Act had been registered against the accused.
