A man allegedly killed his wife suspecting her of having an extramarital affair and then tried to commit suicide on Sunday.
The incident took place at Nangal Chor village in the jurisdiction of Harchowal police station. Jasbir Singh alias Jassa was rushed to the civil hospital here from where he was referred to Amritsar by the doctors due to his serious condition.
In-charge of Harchowal police station, sub-inspector Joginder Singh, said Jasbir married Gurinder Kaur 10 years ago. The couple often had fights over Gurinder's alleged relations with other men.
On Sunday morning, Jasbir and his wife went to her in-laws' house to settle their dispute, but after returning home in the evening, the couple had a spat again. In anger, Jasbir attacked Gurinder with a sharp-edged weapon and murdered her. Later, he got drunk and tried to commit suicide by injuring himself. The police have registered a case.
