Police were on tenterhooks after a school teacher reported seeing armed persons in military uniforms at Purika village in Mukerian on Monday.

Within minutes, a huge posse of policemen from Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur and Pathankot descended on the area and launched a massive search operation.

The teacher claimed having seen 3-4 suspicious persons in a Maruti Alto a few yards from the school when he had gone out to answer the call of nature.

The school authorities lost no time in informing the panchayat and local police.
The search was on till the filing of this report.
