The drive was conducted in the areas, including Janak Puri, Transport Nagar, Hargobind Pura, Focal Point, Tajpur Road and 33 Feet Road, which fall under MC’s Zone-B.

The MC officials claimed that the drive would continue in the other areas too, so that recovery could be ensured. MC Zone-B commissioner Kamlesh Bansal said they would conduct recovery drive by beating the ‘dhol’ for collecting arrears of water supply and sewerage charges.

He appealed to the defaulters to pay the recovery amount at the earliest otherwise complaints would also be registered with the police in this regard.

Earlier, MC commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agarwal had directed the zonal commissioners to recover Rs 1 crore outstanding recovery from each zone. Following which, the officials are making efforts to collect the amount from defaulters.

“Also a consumer, who is a resident of Ganesh Nagar, assured to pay the pending amount of Rs 2 lakh by Tuesday, while another consumer of Sherpur assured to pay arrear of Rs 93,000 by Monday,” he said.
