The police did not take any specific action against for the argument, but videotaped the incident. As for Bains, whose party contested the polls in alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), he had a telephonic conversation with the ACP but remained polite and told him to “see what needs to be done”, according to the ACP.

The ACP said Ajaypreet did not produce documents and the police issued the challan. On the spot, Ajaypreet refused to accept the challan receipt. The police then placed it on the bonnet; he picked it up later and drove away.

In the video, Ajaypreet is seen arguing with the addressing the officers as “public servants, not government servants”. He contended that the MLA (his father) could not have asked the police to issue the challan.

The ACP later said, “Ajaypreet was misbehaving, but his father was polite on the phone ... We have not taken action against him misbehaving, but issued challan for the offence he made.”

It is pertinent to mention that two-time MLA Bains was booked twice for manhandling and misbehaving with police personnel in his first term.
