Mofar had alleged that ruling party workers and leaders, including Rajya Sabha member BS Bhunder from Sardulgarh, are involved in this illegal construction activity and sale of shops near the Ghaggar.

"The state government is already selling public property and now the ruling party leaders have started occupying and selling land illegally. In Sardulgarh, shops are first constructed and then sold in violation of norms and without issuing any notification. I will file a petition in the Punjab and Haryana high court regarding this."

In February last year, Mofar has moved the high court, alleging illegal possession of village pond by some workers of the ruling party in Jhunir block of Mansa district.

Mofar had then blamed the village sarpanch belonging to the ruling party for closing the pond, selling the land and constructing shops illegally. Mofar claimed that the Supreme Court had passed a judgment in 2011 that no one can have possession over the land of village pond.
