“Elevation of Amarinder as the PPCC chief has really been lucky for the SAD. Every election the Congress party has contested in his leadership has consolidated our position further,” said Chandumajra, while addressing a press conference here.

The former member of parliament said, “Be it state assembly polls, civic body polls, Dasuya bypolls or the Moga bypolls, the Congress under Captain's leadership has received humiliation only.”

“However, the thumping victory for SAD in the Moga bypolls has paved the way for his ouster as the state party chief, as he had personally camped in the constituency for over a month. It was his last chance and he has lost it badly,” said Chandumajra.

Commenting on Friday's hike in petrol prices, the SAD spokesman said, “Only God knows what the UPA government has decided to do with the fate of the poor and the middle class.”
