Moga DIET trains 2,000 under SSA project

Approximately 2,000 teachers had been trained through in-service training seminars held under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan project for academic session 2013-14 at training centres set up at government senior secondary schools across the district, Moga's district institute of education & training (DIET) principal Baldev Singh has said.

As many as 1,128 teachers at the primary level were trained in five phases of two days each in Mathematics, Punjabi, English and Hindi subjects through computer-assisted multi-media presentations, under the project.

"Similarly, at the elementary stage, 317 teachers of English, 182 of Punjabi, 149 of Hindi and 178 teachers of Social Studies were trained in two phases of three days each. In total, 826 elementary teachers were imparted in-service training and more than 90% target was achieved," Singh added.

He said that seminars in English, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies for secondary or high schoolteachers would be conducted under RMSA project by resource persons trained by the America India Foundation trainers.

Multiple training project was a totally radical transformation programme for teachers' modernisation and empowerment for development of their professional skills which would help hone their multiple capacities and skills for effective classroom teachings.

They are imparted training for lesson preparation, time management, communication skills and application of TLM to make teaching learning process exciting, lasting, interesting and effective," said the DIET vice-principal.
