The victim’s father and two passengers deposed in the court of Moga additional sessions judge Gurjant Singh on Friday that they were unaware when the crime had been committed. Jagtar Singh of Rode village under the Baghapurana subdivision, and his wife, Amarjit Kaur, had submitted that they had two of the front seats that day, and so could not know anything going on behind.

On September 10, charges were framed against four people over the death of Arshdip Kaur (13) of Landhe Ke village in the district after she was molested and thrown off the moving bus along with her mother, Chhinder Kaur, near Gill village of the Baghapurana subdivision on April 29. The court had summoned the witnesses.

Even Arshdeep’s father, Sukhdev Singh, has recorded in his witness statement that he has no actual clue to the incident because he wasn’t on the bus. The Baghapurana deputy superintendent of police (DSP), case investigator, had recorded the statements of at least 30 people, including a few police personnel and some government employees.
