Mother-son killed, 9 injured in Tarn Taran road accident

A 30-year-old man and his mother were killed and nine other persons injured after two cars collided with each other near Jhander village, 10 km from here, on Sunday evening.

A 30-year-old man and his mother were killed and nine other persons injured after two cars collided with each other near Jhander village, 10 km from here, on Sunday evening.

The deceased have been identified as Lalpura village resident Pardeep Kumar and his mother Kiran Kumari, 56.

Pardeep’s family was returning to their village after attending a function at a relative’s house in Tarn Taran, when the Alto car (PB 11 AQ 3594) that he was driving rammed into a Swift car (PB 06 Z 5228) coming from the opposite side around 4.30pm. Both cars were speeding, said police.

Both the cars were badly damaged and the mother-son died on the spot, said assistant sub-inspector Parmjit Singh. Pardeep’s father Harjinder Pal, uncle Yadwinder, wife Tannu Sharma and five-year-old daughter Koshish were injured in the accident.

Pritam Singh, a resident of Kandila village in Gurdaspur district, was travelling along with his family in the other car. They too were injured in the accident. The victims include Pritam’s wife Parminder Kaur, son Arashdeep Singh, daughter Harleen Kaur and nephew Abhijit Singh.
