Apparently fed up after running from pillar to post in the railway ministry to fulfil the promises he had made during the last general assembly elections, member parliament from Patiala Dharamvira Gandhi has now asked the people to bombard ministry with demand charters pertaining to demands of the Patiala constituency before the upcoming Union railway budget.
However, one of the senior followers of the party said if people had to send memorandums to create pressure for fulfillment of their problems then what would elected representatives of the people do.
The bizarre move from the parliamentarian came after his repeated meetings with railway minister Suresh Prabhu and former railway minister Sadanadna Gowda, to highlight the issues of poor railway accessibility in Malwa region, failed to produce any fruitful results in the past nine months.
It should be mentioned that during meeting with Gowda on July 4, 2014, Gandhi was assured that demands of his constituency would be considered but not even one of his demands has been fulfilled since the Modi government came up with its first railway budget last year.
"I have repeatedly met consecutive railway ministers since I took up charge as Patiala MP but to no avail. Therefore, this time I requested people to send as many as demand charters, request letters and memorandums to railway minister and other officials to create pressure before upcoming railway budget, expected to be presented in February", Gandhi said.

Doubling of Rajpura-Patiala-Dhuri-Bathinda line on priority; to create railway link between Rajpura-Chandigarh, to provide railway connectivity of state capital with Malwa region; to speed up the electrical work on Rajpura-Lehra-Mohabat route via Patiala; starting premium trains including Shatabdi or Jan Shatabdi from Fazilka to New Delhi via Patiala; rail link between Patiala-Jakhal and diversion of more Amritsar bound trains via Patiala.
