Nawanshahr gets 3.5 million units through solar power plants

The district has been generating 3.5 million units per annum through its solar power plants. Deputy commissioner Tanu M Kashyap said that a 200 KW solar power plant at Khatkar Kalan, 100 KW at Raja Sahib Nabh Kanwal, 1.0 MW at Mehandipur village and 1.5 MW at Sahiba village, were commissioned and were generating three lakh, 1.5 lakh and three million, units per annum respectively.

She added that the solar power plant at Mehandipur and Sahiba included among the nine solar power plants of state, having capacity of 10.50 MW solar power generations and supplying power to PSPCL under purchase agreement.

Apart from that, Rs 29 lakh had been given as subsidy to promote other solar power-based projects including solar water heating systems, street lights; cookers bio-energy based bio-gas plants in the district.

She also said as many 279 solar street lights had been installed in the district at total subsidy of Rs 9-lakh in Aur, Uraparr, Guraparr and Chak Dana villages.

Likewise, as many as 7100 liter per day total capacity of solar water heaters had been installed at a total subsidy of Rs 4.6-lakh with subsidy amount of Rs 6600 per heater.
