Nayan Jassal (27) from Phagwara bagged second place in the Punjab Civil Services (PCS) exam, the results of which were declared today. A qualified dentist and an experienced Radio Jockey (RJ), Jassal always dreamed of clearing the civil services and serving the society.
Jassal while talking to HT said, "I want to work for the people to bring change in their lives. I could only fulfil this objective of mine by joining civil services."
"I am not power hungry nor money minded I just want to work for the people" she added.
It is pertinent to mention that though she applied in the Schedule Caste category she attained a second place in General category.
She did her Bachelors in Dentist Surgery but she chose not to enter the medical profession as she wanted to prepare for the civil services exam. After graduating in May 2008 Nayan started working as a RJ in the local FM.
"I started working as an RJ as I wanted to be self sufficient while preparing for the exam. This job also gave me a chance to get connected with people and gain valuable insight into the workings of our society," she claimed.
She beamed as she talked about her objective of contributing to the society. "I would try to be more approachable and forthcoming. I would do my best to make our society better," she said adding that she owed her success to her parents who supported her wholly in pursuing her dream.
