"Media, being an influential force, can play an important role in shaping of society and its attributes like language and culture and it has to play a constructive role in this regard for the development of an ideal society where art and life may freely flourish", said

Dr. Ajaib Singh Brar, vice-chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar and Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, education minister were the chief guests at the inauguaryion ceremony of the two-day confernece.

The main theme of the conference is Punjabi media - present and contemporary times. The panel included keynote speaker, Satnam Singh Manak, executive editor, Ajit Group, Chander Mohan, president, Arya Shiksha Mandal, Dr. Om Gauri Dutt Sharma, deputy director, Doordarshan and senior journalists Major Singh, Giani Santokh Singh.
