Lashing out at Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee chief Partap Singh Bajwa, chief minister Parkash Singh Badal has said he is trying to gain cheap popularity by issuing hateful statements against the SAD-BJP government, while, in reality, the Congress has lost its political ground in Punjab completely.
On the final day of his sangat darshan (public contact) programme on Thursday, Badal asked Bajwa to shun tirade against the ruling alliance and said as a canard aimed at tarnishing the sanguine image of the SAD-BJP government, which has the mandate of people and has came to power consecutively for second time on the sole plank of development.
Addressing a gathering at Sosan village, Badal alleged that the mounting frustration among the senior Congress leadership in the state was evident from the fact that they have been discarded by the people time and again. "I had never expected PPCC chief Partap Singh Bajwa to behave in such a childish manner that despite knowing everything he has shut his eyes and was issuing half-baked statements without verifying the facts," he said.
Earlier, addressing a press conference, Badal refuted the allegations of the PPCC chief regarding the politicisation of police force. "This charge was totally unsubstantiated as the police force was working totally in accordance with the law of the land," the CM said. Replying to a query, Badal pointed out that the Congress leaders were trying to mislead people of the state by making false propaganda regarding the fiscal health of the state.

"It was on record that the state had witnessed unprecedented development in all sectors during the past six years of the SAD-BJP rule. Due to stupendous efforts of the state government, Punjab today leads the country in the field of education and had been adjudged excellent by an agency of the union government for infrastructure in the field of health services," he added.
During the sangat darshan, the chief minister disbursed grants worth Rs 1.67 crore at Jhandeana (west), Khukrana, Thamanwala, Mangewala, Baghelewala, Sosan, Daddahur, Korewala Khurd and Korewala Kalan villages.
Badal was accompanied by former agriculture minister Tota Singh, former DGP PS Gill, MLA Joginderpal Jain, former Moga municipal corporation chief Barjinder Singh Brar, special principal secretary to the chief minister, KJS Cheema and deputy commissioner Arshdeep Singh Thind.
