NGT directs DMRC to provide CNG-fitted buses to Himachal

Three weeks after the National Green Tribunal (NGT) relaxed the ban partially on plying vehicles to Rohtang; it directed the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Tuesday to provide CNG-fitted buses to the Himachal Pradesh Transport Corporation (HRTC) for running them in the Rohtang region, said Himachal Pradesh senior additional advocate general at New Delhi Suryanarayan Singh.

Three weeks after the National Green Tribunal (NGT) relaxed the ban partially on plying vehicles to Rohtang; it directed the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Tuesday to provide CNG-fitted buses to the Himachal Pradesh Transport Corporation (HRTC) for running them in the Rohtang region, said Himachal Pradesh senior additional advocate general at New Delhi Suryanarayan Singh.

Earlier, the DMRC had stated that though they had shortage of buses but, for trial basis, they could provide two buses to Himachal Pradesh at the nominal rate of Rs 70,000 per vehicle for 7 days, which amounts to Rs 10,000 per day per vehicle and, for a month of trial, it will be Rs 3 lakh not 40 lakh as projected by the state.

The matter was listed before the principal bench comprising chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar and members justice UD Salvi, Dr Devendra Kumar Agrawal, Prof AR Yousuf and Ranjan Chatterjee.
