No abattoir in Nakodar even after 3 years

The local nagar council (NC) has failed to construct a slaughterhouse even after the passage of around three years. The civic body had adopted a proposal in 2010 to construct an abattoir on the Malsian road after local self government department director sought a progress report on the construction of slaughterhouses in all nagar councils.

The Punjab and Haryana high court had earlier directed for the construction of slaughterhouse in municipal areas of Punjab.

When contacted, NC executive engineer Rakesh Kumar maintained that a suitable site for the abattoir was yet to be selected since the earlier selected one was given to Punjab water supply and sewerage board to set up sewage treatment plant.
