The route, which connects Jammu as well as Bihar, sees a large number of labourers travelling on a regular basis but the seating arrangements have not been able to cater to the growing population that visits the railway station every day.

The actual scenario of inconvenience can be seen in the afternoon when trains like Shatabdi and Shaane-Punjab arrive. Many city residents travel to and fro every day from Jalandhar to Amritsar and also nearby localities and thus are regular passengers who use the city station.

Though the railway administration claims of providing all amenities,a visit to the station refutes all claims. People lying down near the booking counter are a usual sight. One can see passengers, including senior citizens, sitting on the floor with their families.

Not only this, the weighing machine usually placed at all the platforms of the railway station has turned into seats for the passengers. Though the railway administration has made seating arrangements in the waiting hall, it is hardly used by passengers because of its filthiness.
