Besides this, nine patients from different parts of the state were reported to be suffering from the dengue fever in the city during this period.

With this the total number of dengue patients has reached to 90 this season, while about 185 people from outside the city have tested positive.

District epidemiologist Dr Anil Verma informed that out of the fresh nine cases, four patients were from Hoshiarpur and one each from Jalandhar, Pathankot, Faridkot, Fatehgarh Sahib, Sangrur and Himachal Pardesh.

Two of these patients have been admitted to the CMCH, while the rest are admitted to the DMCH.

The city patients, who confirmed positive for dengue, are from the Barewal, Haibowal and Model Town areas.

Verma said though the larva responsible for dengue had subsided mostly, people needed to take precautions, as adult mosquitoes were still around to spread the disease.

It is important to mention here that the last year a total of 1,662 dengue cases were reported in the district, and 23 people had died of the ailment.
