Union food processing minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, who was here on Tuesday morning, defended the decision of imposing President’s rule in Uttarakhand and denied that the Centre was indulging in political vendetta to destabilise the governments in Congress-ruled states.
“The Union government has nothing to do with President’s rule in Uttarakhand. Congress MLAs rebelled against their own leader, which led to the current situation. There is no political vendetta as such,” she said.
Congress has alleged that the BJP was making all efforts to overthrow its governments in Himachal Pradesh as well as in Manipur after two states including Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh were brought under President’s rule.
She hailed chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and prmje Minister Narendra Modi for pruning the list of blacklisted Sikhs, who were not allowed to enter India. “It is a welcome decision as those who fled the state fearing for safety can now visit their native place. The people, who settled abroad after getting political asylum during days of extremism in the early Rs 90s would now be able to come and meet their families.”
Bathinda MP praised the state government for passing the farm indebtedness bill 2016. “The farmers of the state are having a tough time due to uneven weather and natural calamities like whitefly attack. The state government has passed such resolutions in the assembly which will help reduce their financial stress. Yet another decision has been taken wherein the farmers will be given interest-free loan of up to Rs1 lakh. ”

She also laid foundation stone for raising the plinth level of procurement centres in Anoopgarh and Aklia villages. She also laid foundation stone of the Rs 26.5 lakh project that would enable draining out of sewage water. She also distributed grants worth around Rs 2 crore for works at Thuthiyanwali, Tamkot, Ralla, Anoopgarh, Aklia, Bhaini Bagha, Bhupal Kalan, Bhupal Khurd, Makha Chahlan, Alisher Kalan and Alisher Khurd villages.
