Notice to private company for failure in starting token system for HSRPs

The state transport department issued a notice on Friday to Agros Impex, the private company which was awarded the contract for HSRPs, over failure in starting the token system and the slow pace at which the work of installing high security registration number plates (HSRPs) is being carried out.

Sources at the district transport office (DTO) said transport officials had directed the private company several times to start the token system and provide necessary facilities like water and fans at the district office, but to no avail.

The state transport department, after holding various meetings regarding the matter, has warned the private company in Jalandhar that serious action will be taken against them if the facilities are not provided to the public at the earliest.

Sources said HSRPs had been fixed only on 30% of the total vehicles plying on district roads. Due to heavy rush of applicants trying to get HSRPs, the waiting time has gone up to 15- 20 days to get the registration plates fixed.

District transport office RP Singh said, "The department had directed Agros Impex officials to start the token system service to issue HSRPs slips and provide basic services to the public, but till date, the system has not been installed. The state transport department has issued a warning notice to them to fulfill the requirements."

Arjun Singh, Agros Impex zonal incharge said, "We are working on it and the token service will be started within a few days in Jalandhar. It takes time to install a new service and system."
