‘Passport numbers to be linked with police dept via Internet’

Director general of police (DGP),human resource department,SK Sharma and principal secretary JS Sandhu on Friday visited the Community Police Resource Centre (CPRC) at Police Headquarters and other suvidha centers to know about the procedure adopted by them to issue passport and other police related services.

While talking to the media, DGP Sharma said the department had decided to link passport numbers with the police department through Internet. He added that with the new system, the accused who were absconding or have fled to foreign countries could be traced easily. Other districts would also be connected online with the system.

Principal secretary JS Sandhu said they had come to check the working of suvidha and saanjh kendras and examine if people were facing any problem to get their work done here.
He further added that the government had decided to upgrade the suvidha centres for the convenience of people.

Police commissioner Pramod Ban, deputy police commissioner Nilamabari Jagdale and deputy commissioner Rajat Agarwal were also present.
