Rajatvir shot himself dead ahead of a police raid at his house in Patiala on June 1 and his mother also committed suicide two days later.

His father, Harpreet Singh, who was arrested on June 1 after the recovery of a pressure cooker bomb, pipe bombs and a suicide bomber jacket, was sent in police custody for two more days.

Inspector general of police AS Rai and DIG Sukhchain Singh Gill have maintained silence over the recovery of explosives.

Superintendent of police (investigation) Harvinder Singh Virk, who is heading the probe team, said they were investigating the case and corroborating information provided by Harpreet during his interrogation.

Over Rajatvir’s estranged affair and his alleged plans to blow off her girlfriend’s house, Virk said: “We are verifying whether his girlfriend or her family have registered against Rajatvir.”

AKALI DAL SEEKS CBI PROBE

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the recovery of explosives from Rajatvir’s house.

Chandumjara said the party has formed a panel of three lawyers —Satnam Singh Kaler, Kundan Singh Nagra and Amardeep Singh Dharni — and a report will be submitted to Punjab governor VP Singh Badnore on July 12.
