Sharing that it is a trial project that has so far received positive reviews from the public, additional commissioner of police (ACP) Deepak Hilori told HT that loudspeakers at four important and busy junctions - Bharat Nagar Chowk, Jagraon bridge, Bhai Wala Chowk and Bus Stand point - were put up 10 days ago.

From morning until evening, non-stop traffic guidelines and instructions are given out to commuters in Punjabi.

“The idea is to impart basic traffic knowledge to people and make them feels serious about the rules. Information such as the use of helmet and seat belt, rules regarding traffic lights, warnings to ignorant public about the consequences of breaking traffic rules are some of the advisory given,” he said.

On Monday, the loudspeakers were installed for the first time in Sarabha Nagar market too.

Considering the area has residential colonies, the advisory in this market runs from five in the evening until 10 in the night, the time when the market sees maximum traffic.

Asked if the non-stop talk can distract commuters, Hilori denied saying that the chaos and noise at the junctions was anyway high so the advisory won't come in the way of the commuters.
