Residents of Gudiakhera village have been suffering from hepatitis as dirty drinking water is being supplied to the houses. Owing to alleged negligence of the public health department, water in the village tank is polluted and same water is being supplied to residents.
More than 24 people are suffering from hepatitis in the village.
Mahender Singh Punia, a villager, said the public health department is not serious about cleanliness of the tank as water is not suitable for drinking.
Villagers Hariram, Krishan Kumar, Jaiveer, Jagdish, Sumitra Devi, Vijay Singh, Rohtash, Kiran, Ramsarup and Jagtish are suffering from hepatitis.
As per doctors, this is due to drinking polluted water. Most patients are admitted to the city hospitals.
Krishan Kumar Punia said it's been long since the department has cleaned the water tank and waste is lying around the tank. "Filters are also not cleaned. Even after giving the information regarding problem public health department is not paying attention," Punia said.
Within 15 days, more than two-dozen people have been admitted to the hospital due to hepatitis and other diseases like diarrhoea and cholera caused by consumption of polluted water.

{{/usCountry}}After getting information regarding pathetic situation of the water tank, no steps have been taken by the public health department for cleaning it. The village needs an RO system so that villagers could drink clean water."
Mangat Ram, junior engineer of the public health department, said, "We have already sent the estimate for cleaning the water tank and as soon as it gets sanctioned we will start the cleaning work. Villagers were told to give a resolution to lift the tank, but they are yet to submit the same to the department."
In the village, there is no public health centre. Social workers and members of Yuva Club have been continuously making efforts for opening a health centre in the village. The panchayat has given the land for the health centre but due to political tussle the project is hanging fire.
Due to the lack of public health centre in the village, people are at the receiving end.
