After the Gurdaspur terror attack, the police feel the need for bunkers outside police stations across the state. The government had been giving bunkers the miss at newly-built police stations. Bunkers were demolished at police stations operating in old buildings.

After the Gurdaspur attack and intelligence inputs about probable attacks, the police have started setting up bunkers.

Some of the police stations have gone in for a temporary setup by piling up sand and cement bags outside. The GRP has set up bunkers using iron after the terrorist attack in Gurdaspur.
Inspector Beant Juneja, SHO at police station division number 5, said they had set up two bunkers at police stations. Two armed cops will man the bunkers for 24 hours.

He added that the police station was on the main road at Ludhiana-Ferozepur road. With the bunkers on the roof of the police stations, the police can keep a tab on movement on Ferozepur road and on Jagraon bridge.

Earlier, the division number 3 police station had set up temporary bunkers by piling up sand and cement bags. When terrorism was at its peak in Punjab, the police had set up bunkers manned by armed cops to strike back in case of a terrorist attack.
