The 132 KV grid at the plant failed, following which both functional units of the plant also tripped. Soon, the 220 KV line to Guru Hargobind thermal power plant, Lehra Mohabbat, tripped, following which its unit no 1 tripped.

Due to this, the entire Bathinda and rural areas were in the dark till the filing of this report. The Bathinda power plant would be revived by midnight; but, the Lehra Mohabbat unit would take time, said a power engineer.
