A section of Sikh preachers has criticised the Punjab government for slapping sedition charges on radical leaders and resorting to canecharge on people protesting against the desecration of Guru Granth Sahib.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, preachers Panthpreet Singh, Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale, Satnam Singh Chander, Sukhjit Singh Khosa, Harjit Singh Dhipali and Nirmal Singh said these developments had exposed the anti-Sikh face of the state government.

They also said that the government was trying to throttle the voices of dissent by using lathicharge on people who were protesting peacefully.
