In a quiet visit, Preity drove to Shimla, along with her brother, to know the well-being of her maternal grandmother, who underwent surgery at a private hospital here. She also took some time out to visit her house, Neelkunj, where she spent her childhood. The actor was pained to see the new buildings coming up around her house.

“Back from a 1 day trip from Shimla. Stunned and heartbroken to see our big playground gone and lots of houses everywhere,” tweeted Zinta on her return to Mumbai. Preity also posted three pictures of the buildings around her house.

Preity was dismayed to see the construction around; when she was small, there were hardly any buildings close to her house, Preity’s uncle, Yashwant Chajta, who is vice-chairman of Himachal Urban Development Authority, told HT. Preity has lots of memories associated with Shimla. She studied at the Convent of Jesus and Mary and later graduated from St Bede’s College.
