Two of these guards are under arrest and two on the run. A mystery woman is charged with helping the accused. Confirming the incident, Pathankot senior superintendent of police Rakesh Kaushal said prisoner Satinderjit Singh “Baba” had multiple drug cases against him at Qadian near Batala in Gudaspur police jurisdiction. “He was bought to the hospital because he had complained of chest pain,” said the SSP.

The case about the escape was registered at Division Number 1 here. Satinderjit Singh, who also goes by the alias of “Bitta”, was a proclaimed offender (PO) whom the Pathankot police had arrested on October 14 after long. On December 20, they moved him from the sub jail to the hospital since his blood sugar level had also jumped. “After he escaped at 3am, I asked superintendent of police (detective) Narinder Singh Bedi to gather all station house officers (SHOs) of the Pathankot jurisdiction and seal all possible exits,” said the SSP.
