The eldest daughter of Sangrur resident Suresh Kumar Garg, who runs a 'kariyana' store in the city, Daizy believes that hard work is key to success.

"I studied for 12 hours every day and I think this is the only factor behind my success," Daizy told Hindustan Times, adding that, "Though I am very much happy with my performance, I want to improve on it further to achieve number one position in future exams."

Daizy, a student of Springdales Public Senior Secondary School, Sangrur, wants to carve a niche for herself. Having already cleared the Joint Entrance Examination (Main), now she will appear for the JEE Advanced exam scheduled to be held on May 25, she said.

"After I completed my Class 12 examinations I started preparing for the JEE Advanced as I want to take admission in a big engineering college in Delhi, which I think is very important to become a good engineer," she added.

"Though I could not complete my graduation, I am providing all support to my two daughters as I think girls are equal to boys," Daizy said.

Springdales Senior Secondary School principal Jeevan Garg also praised Daizy for her hard work. "From the pre-nursery, Daizy is studying in our school and she has topped in several exams. As she wants to become an engineer I am sure that she will achieve her goal easily and one day she will bring laurels to the country," the principal said.

Besides Daizy six other girls from Sangrur, a district with a skewed sex ratio of 885 and a poor female literacy rate of 62%, have also scored good marks in the exam. Among others, Deepali Gupta managed to get ninth position in the state by securing 94.4% marks, followed by Geetanjali (94.6%), Gagandeep Kaur Kaler (94.2%), Ziniya (94.2%) and Kuldeep Kaur (94.4%).
