Led by PYC leader Rahulinder Singh Sidhu, Congress workers held a protest march in Moonak sub-division of the district, and blocked the Moonak-Tohana road for several hours.

Sidhu lambasted the Badal government while addressing the workers and said it was shameful that the government was resorting to "unethical tactics" such as making fake ration cards of Akali workers in the region to fulfil its vested interests.

He said the poor in the region, who were eligible for the below-poverty-line (BPL) benefits, were finding it difficult to get blue ration cards.

A similar protest was held in Sangrur where youth Congress workers led by PYC general secretary Poonam Kangra blocked the Ludhiana-Sangrur highway. They also held a demonstration outside the deputy commissioner's residence.
