Rail traffic, which had been severely affected by the farmers’ protest, began to limp back to normalcy. On Wednesday, a few passengers could be seen aboard some of the trains plying between the city and various other destinations.
According to Amritsar-based officials of the Northern Railways, it would take a few days for the rail traffic to normalise.
A number of passengers could be seen aboard the Delhi-Amritsar Shatabdi that rolled into the Amritsar Railway Station on Wednesday. On the contrary, the Nangal dam-Amritsar express was seen plying with virtually empty compartments. A similar scenario marked the movement of the Katihar Express, which was also seen devoid of passengers on Wednesday.
However, the Amritsar-Chandigarh Intercity Express managed to board a respectable number of passengers.
