Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Sunil Jakhar has said the Punjab government was not concerned about children who are painfully waiting for release of their mothers arrested for seeking salary due for the past 13 months during a peaceful protest at Bathinda on May 1.
In a release, Jakhar urged chief minister Parkash Singh Badal to order the release of 148 teachers, including 40 women, from Faridkot jail and immediately withdraw false cases registered against them.
He said it was shameful that the SAD leaders are demanding release of dreaded terrorists, who were convicted of triggering blasts and gunning down innocent people, on humanitarian grounds but had locked justice-seeking innocent CSS, RMSA and SSA teachers in the jails to muffle their voice.
Even when the Supreme Court and Punjab and Haryana high court had snubbed the Punjab government for atrocities on women in Tarn Taran, Patiala and Amritsar, there had been no change in its callous attitude.
Jakhar said the SAD brass and their ruling partner, the saffron party, had been shedding crocodile tears only while assuring that women would remain safe in Punjab.
