The municipal corporation (MC) employees, including clerks and inspectors of various departments of the civic body are busy in conducting Atta-Dal scheme survey, whereas visitors are suffering at the MC offices. Many of the employees remain absent from the offices due to which the visitors are being forced to return homes without getting their works done.
Earlier, the employees, mostly booth level officers, were busy in a survey for verification of old age pensions but now they remain in field for a survey regarding Atta-Dal scheme. Even the Congress councillors have expressed their dissatisfaction as the visitors are suffering.
No staffer is spotted in majority of the MC offices at zone A building during working hours. Sources say the employees who are not given any task in regards to the Atta-Dal scheme also get an excuse to miss the office sometimes.
As MC commissioner GK Singh has been deoloyed as general observer for Delhi assembly elections, deputy commissioner Rajat Agarwal has been given the additional charge of the MC commissioner.
An official of MC said that many employees are conducting the Atta-Dal scheme survey as they were given directions to complete this work in time. Due to which, they come only for important work and then go in the field for survey.
A visitor at MC zone A office, requesting anonymity, said that he had visited the office regarding some queries but the staff concerned was not available. He was asked to come again on other day as the employee concerned was on field duty. The situation is almost the same in various MC offices.

{{/usCountry}}Sources said some employees of the MC were not willing to be a part of this survey but they were directed to do so. The civic body staffers on survey duty include some superintendents as well.
Parminder Mehta, spokesperson for Congress councillors, said, “The functioning of the MC has come to a halt as the offices remain vacant due to absence of employees. The residents complain that their works are not being done.” Mehta said that it was the largest municipal corporation of the state and it had been facing staff shortage for long. The state government should look into matter so that the visitors may not be hassled, he added.
Deputy commissioner Rajat Agarwal said the survey was also an important work which would be completed soon. “The employees have been working overtime and giving their best to balance their work as well as the survey,” he added.
