Divisional railway manager Anuj Parkash said on Sunday that they recently approached some NRIs from Doaba and they have assured to extend help for this.

Even as several development works were announced for the upgrade of the city railway station in the past few years, none has been carried out so far, it has been learnt.

“We want to modernise both the Jalandhar and the Cantonment city railway station with all amenities. Since there are many NRIs from Doaba region, we are planning to seek their support for upgrading these two, especially the city railway station,” said Anuj Parkash.

Ferozepur division officials have claimed on several occasions that since the railways is facing financial crisis, they have not been able to complete upgradation of the city railway station.
