Prakash held a meeting with the administration of the upcoming medical college and the district officials.

Showing his satisfaction over the pace of work, Prakash said the first phase of the construction, which included administrative building and auditorium, would be completed as per the schedule.

Prakash directed the authorities to keep a special check on the quality of the construction material.
Suresh Gupta Madlauda, senior Congress leader and member of All-India Congress Committee (AICC), and members of other political parties had raised concern over alleged no progress of the medical college.
Disputing that the 42-acres earmarked for the medical college were insufficient, the Congress leader was demanding to shift the college out of the city for better development of the major project.

However, the government's decision has found supporters from the local chapter of Indian Medical Association and Haryana Hotel and Restaurant Association (HHRA).

IMA spokesperson Dr Rajiv Gupta said a medical college would serve better if it was developed in easily approachable city limits. He said: “The IMA urges people to support the Karnal MLA and parliamentarian to ensure speedy completion of the project.”

HHRA chairman Col Manvir Chaudhary lashed at Madlauda for “trying to create hurdles” in the ambitious project.
