Rs 1.93 crore innovation fund sanctioned for four districts

The Haryana government on Saturday sanctioned innovation funds of over rs 1.93 crore to four districts namely Faridabad, Gurgaon, Karnal and Kurukshetra.

The Haryana government on Saturday sanctioned innovation funds of over rs 1.93 crore to four districts namely Faridabad, Gurgaon, Karnal and Kurukshetra.

Sumita Misra, principal secretary, science and technology department, said that the project 'training on wheel' would be implemented in Faridabad district and Rs 31.23 lakh had been sanctioned for it. The main objective of this project, she said, was to create a pool of skilled persons from the underprivileged section through skill enhancement with market requirement.

Misra said that under the project 'Udaan', Sohna would be developed as a one-stop place offering solution for all geographical information system-based policy applications in Gurgaon district. Accordingly, property register, scientific land record management and utilisation, an agri-market based cadastral mapping would be developed with Rs 1 crore. The main objective of this project was to exploit the advancements in remote sensing using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and ready to use open source geo-spatial web GIS technology for regular monitoring.

She said that in Karnal district, the innovation project pertained to providing battery-operated rickshaws to the existing pedal rickshaw pullers with a fund of Rs 54 lakh. The main objective of this project was to provide pollution or emission-free travel to local commuters, to provide relief from manual labour to the rickshaw pullers and ensure income-oriented employment generation.

Misra said that the project 'holistic quality improvement in schools' had been sanctioned for Kurukshetra with a grant of rs 8.50 lakh. The main objective of this project was to impart digital literacy to students by setting up interactive class rooms.
