Rs 2 lakh compensation for road mishap victim's families

The state government announced Rs 2 lakh compensation for the family of each of the deceased of the Anandpur Sahib Road accident.

Mahesh Inder Singh Grewal, adviser to chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, announced the compensation at Nangal Khurd village, around 30 km from Ludhiana, on Friday. Grewal visited the village and expressed sympathy with the families of the victims.

Grewal said that the government would provide free treatment to the injured of the mishap. He also announced that the government would provide free education to the girls of the victims' families and give them tablet computers.

Six persons, including three women, all residents of Nangal Khurd village, died in a road mishap near Anandpur Sahib on Tuesday, while 32 others suffered injuries.

Bikram Jit Singh Khalsa, former MLA, Amarjit Singh Sahibazpur, zila parishad member, Manpreet Singh Talwandi, district president of Student Organisation of India (SOI), Jagdev Singh, circle Pakhowal president of SAD, and youth SAD leader Baljit Singh were also present on the occasion.
