Following the withdrawal of candidature by Congress candidate Navjeet Singh and four other Independent candidates from ward no. 39, the Akali Dal candidate Dalbir Singh has been declared elected unopposed.

District transport officer and returning officer Vimal Setia handed over the election certificate to Dalbir Singh.
Giving details, Setia said: "There were a total of six nominations from this ward, including Congress' Navjeet Singh, four independents and SAD candidate Dalbir Singh. Since all the others withdrew their papers today, Akali Dal nominee Dalbir Singh was the only candidate left. So, we have declared him as councillor from ward no. 39."
Also present at the DTO officer, SAD MLA Inderbir Bolaria said, "This is a clear indication of a wave in favour of SAD-BJP in the city and all this is because of the development the government has done."
