Punjab Congress president and Gurdaspur MP Sunil Jakhar on Sunday said that once the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission report on sacrilege cases in the state is tabled in the Punjab assembly on Monday, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leaders will not be able to go in public.
Addressing the party’s political conference at Baba Bakala, Jakhar said, “Akalis are now planning to fight upcoming elections in Haryana, Rajasthan and UP as they to know that they will face unprecedented public wrath after the sacrilege report is tabled in the assembly. But Punjabis living in these states will not allow them to fight elections.”
“They fooled the people of Punjab in the name of ‘panth’. They claim themselves to be the guardians of Sikh ‘panth’ but they failed to find the culprits of Behbal Kalan firing during their tenure. It will be disclosed in the assembly as who is the real Dyer of Behbal Kalan,” he said.
Jails minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said, “Former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son Sukhbir Badal are the ones who murdered the sacred pages of Guru Granth Sahib. They should be hanged to death immediately. I have enough evidence against them for hatching sacrilege in the state. I will disclose this in the assembly on Monday.”
He said, “Sukhbir Badal has been demanding a case against me for manipulating a witness in the sacrilege report. Why he is not filing a suit against me in court? He should also file a complaint with the Punjab director general of police (DGP) against me. I am also ready to give evidence against him in court.”
He said instead of taking a stand against the accused of sacrilege incidents, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) is trying to back them. “This is shameful,” he said. The minister announced Rs 1 crore grant for installing a milk chiller plant at Baba Bakala.
He also announced Rs 10 lakh for the development works in the segment.Technical education minister Charanjit Singh Channi announced Rs 1 crore grant for upgrading two industrial training institutes (ITIs) at Baba Bakala.
MLAs Santokh Singh Bhalipur (Baba Bakala), Harminder Singh Gill (Patti), Kulbir Singh Zira (Zira) and Dharamvir Agnihotari (Tarn Taran) were present at the conference.
