Two fresh cases of swine flu have been reported from the district, taking the total number of patients of the deadly virus to four.
The new patients are Neelam Rani, 28, a resident of Rattan Garh Kindran village, and Jagdev Singh, 60, of Thahad village of the district. They are undergoing treatment at the PGI in Chandigarh, Jagdev Singh's condition is critical and he has been on the ventilator.
Talking to the Hindustan Times, Dr Upasna Bindra, an epidemiologist at the civil hospital and nodal officer for swine flu in Sangrur, said that the condition of two women patients Baldev Kaur, 62, of Bagrian village, and Vimal Kaur, 50, of Sangrur, who were tested positive for H1N1 virus last week, has been deteriorating and they have been put on the ventilator at the PGI.
About the safety measures, she said, "We are making regular visits to the family members of these patients, but they have been found to have no symptoms of swine flu."
Besides, the district health authorities have formed two teams and the doctors have been making regular visits to all villages of the district to make people aware about the symptoms of the deadly virus, she added.
She, however, advised the people to avoid going to public places and stay away from marriage functions, as the virus travels with the patients and during marriages virus spreads easily.
