Earlier, the gover nment planned to set up the school at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), but due to paucity of space, the premises of boys hostel of SCD Government College was allotted for the school.

The new hostel for the boys is under construction and will be ready by august end. The college principal has asked the students to vacate the hostel and make their staying arrangements till the time new hostel was complete.

The move has left the students in a dilemma as one-room accommodation will cost them up to 4,000 per month, while they were paying around 6000 yearly to the college for the hostel facility.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Rajinder Singh, principal of the college said, “Our boys have vacated the old boys hostel near the Rose Garden. The new hostel is coming up on the college campus and will be ready by August 30. The college authorities have asked these boys to make their staying arrangements till then.”
